Spring is delighting us with wonderful weather, and what´s not to love about it? You can expect hot-dry weather through most of Mexico in the month of April, which is perfect for the beach. Those of you who live in the USA or Canada might be feeling an impulse to escape to the Caribbean now, but… WAIT! Our Realtor’s Discovery Weekend is not until April 30th - May 3rd if you have not yet registered, we encourage you to do so. Few rooms still available!

For those of you who are lucky enough to enjoy this powder-sugar sand every day, we would like to thank you for always bringing your clients to TAO Inspired Living.

Here's a glance at some of the most important festivals and events held in Riviera Maya in April: Semana Santa, Akumal Comedy Festival, Riviera Maya Film Festival and International Children’s Day and would like to wish you a Happy Easter filled with love and bunny shaped chocolates.

Bird Watching Sites

The Yucatan Peninsula is one of the best bird watching spots in Mexico. It has 548 different species including 11 endemic varieties; in the wintertime there are even more species as migratory birds visit the warm region. The region provides great birding opportunities year round because of its subtropical location. These famous birding sites can be visited on one day tours from the Riviera Maya.

Holy Week - Semana Santa

Holy Week - Semana Santa

March 30th to April 10th

In 2015 Easter falls on April 5. Festivities take place during the week leading up to Easter, but many people have the following week off as well, stretching it out to a two-week holiday. Religious processions and passion plays re-enacting Jesus' crucifixion are commonly held, but for many Mexicans this is a favorite time to hit the beach.

Visit Ek Balam Ruins “Famous for the ‘El Torre’”

Ek Balam is a Yucatec Maya name that translates to "the black jaguar" or "bright star jaguar." Located near the colonial city of Valladolid in Yucatan, Mexico, Ek Balam's most important cultural period was during the Late Classic Period 700 - 1000 A.D It wasn't until the late 1980's when the site was mapped, and research continued into the 1990's. This is a mesmerizing ruins site if you are looking for something a bit off the beaten path.

Getting to Ek Balam
Ek Balam archaeological zone is roughly a 2 hour drive from the Riviera Maya and 40 kilometers north of Valladolid on the road to Tizamin and Rio Lagartos. If you are in a hurry take the toll road from Cancun and exit at Valladolid. Our favorite route is through Tulum, along the Coba Road and then on to Valladolid. Follow the signs to Rio Lagartos once you arrive close to Valladolid.

The site is open from 8 AM to 5 PM and is becoming more popular with local tour groups. Ticketing is similar to Uxmal where you pay a split fee, one for the site and one for the Yucatan state government. You will need both tickets to enter the grounds.
