Dear TAO Family and Friends, It’s getting hot! April brings heat to the Riviera Maya, and we are loving it! To me there is nothing better than the warm promptings of a hot day to send me to the ocean, a cool clear cenote, a swimming pool or a beachside restaurant for a cool drink! The heat of summer reminds us that experiences are always a matter of perception and reaction: how do you see it, and what do you do about it? Sometimes a difficult emotion or life change can be like a day that feels too hot. You can expect hot, dry weather through most of Mexico in the month of April, which is perfect weather for the beach, and many Mexican families take advantage of this fact during their Easter break (March 30 to April 10, 2015.) You may have the impulse to escape or avoid the feeling, only to find that the difficult energy persists or gets worse. Another option is to be curious and experiment. When facing a difficult moment, don’t jump to conclusions, “I hate this,” or “I can’t deal with this,” instead, ask questions like, “What am I really feeling,” “is this really as bad as I think,” or “is there another way I could manage this?” Then, once you open your mind a little, you can try new things. Instead of staying inside on a hot day, go enjoy a lake, or a pool. Instead of avoiding a difficult person or situation, invite them to a conversation, or do something fun with them. You might go to friend for help, or just get some exercise and revisit the difficult feeling afterwards. Here's a glance at some of the most important festivals and events held in Riviera Maya in April: Semana Santa, Akumal Comedy Festival, Riviera Maya Film Festival and International Children’s Day where we will be visiting the Mayan community of Yaxché. My quote of the month: Happy April Isaac Henares |

Holy Week - Semana SantaMarch 30th to April 10th In 2015 Easter falls on April 5. Festivities take place during the week leading up to Easter, but many people have the following week off as well, stretching it out to a two-week holiday. Religious processions and passion plays re-enacting Jesus' crucifixion are commonly held, but for many Mexicans this is a favorite time to hit the beach. |
