Dear TAO friends, Though most travelers to Mexico come in the winter to escape the cold, there are quite a few excellent reasons to visit Mexico in the summer months. You can partake in colorful cultural festivals, enjoy interacting with animals that are easier to spot this time of year, and take advantage of great savings and few crowds, since this is low season. Akumal weather in June is very nice indeed! You should expect high temperatures of over 90F and minimum temperatures in the mid 70's. In June the temperature in Akumal will exceed 90F on more than half of the days in the month and every single day will be above 80 degrees. During June we do see some rain but don't be alarmed though! The rain is usually infrequent but often extremely heavy, this means that when it rains, it really does rain. If you're not from a tropical country you probably haven't seen anything quite like it! However, the rain can clear up just as quickly as it arrived giving rise to sauna like conditions as it evaporates. It is very rare in June for rain to spoil a whole day in Akumal. Summertime is sea turtle season in Mexico. Female sea turtles begin to arrive on Mexico's beaches in May to nest and lay their eggs, and the babies start to hatch some 40 days later. Sea turtle rescue programs search the beaches for nests and either mark them or transport the eggs to safe spots, and after they've hatched, release the baby sea turtles to the ocean. And of course on June 21st we celebrate Father’s Day. The Children had their day on April 30th; moms were celebrated on May 10th, now finally it’s dad's turn! My quote of the month: Have a great month everyone Isaac Henares |
