Dear TAO Family and Friends, We are deep into the heart of summer and life continues to be magical at TAO. Summer classes have started and thanks to our Spanish teacher and our great chef Misael we are hearing and tasting some lovely things at the TAO Wellness Center! As some of you may have seen we are making another entrance from the main road into TAO. This walkway will lead straight to the NEW “Elixir Bistro” that we will be opening soon. The Bistro offers, fruit salads, eggs, omelets, salads, soups, seafood dishes and meats! This month I would like you to consider the topic of “fitness.” Summer is a natural time to want to look good for the beach, lake or swimming pool, and, at the very least it’s a time people tend to want to be active and outside. At TAO we believe fitness is always holistic and involves the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects of health. Remember that when we are physically fit, most of us will digest better, sleep better, manage stress better and feel happier overall. My advice is to use the natural ease of summer to get active a few times a week. Of course we have to watch our limits and health conditions, but don’t forget that real fitness shows up when we move vigorously at least three times a week for at least 20 minutes. A slow walk and a nice canoe ride in the park are good for the soul, but don’t do much for the heart and muscles. Walk more and often, try more stairs and walking uphill. Spend more time in nature, try a challenging hike. Don’t be afraid of the gym. Try a summer sport, or commit to a team. My quote of the month: Happy August everyone Isaac Henares |

International Whale Shark DaySunday 30th Started in 2012, International Whale Shark Day celebrates these gentle giants. Growing up to 14 meters long and 12 tons heavy, whale sharks have a face only a mother could love: no whale shark will ever win a beauty contest, so it’s right they’re made to feel special one day a year. However, there’s a serious purpose to the day, which aims to raise awareness of how this animal has been hunted to vulnerability for its highly prized fins and meat. |
