We Are TAO Newsletter / September 2015 / TAO Inspired Living

Dear TAO Family and Friends,

It is hard to believe that September is here and the summer fun is shifting to the changing colors of fall. Here at TAO the weather is still warm and the ocean is like a refreshing turquois bath!

The upcoming months at the Wellness Center are full of incredible and well-priced events. One that we are so very excited about is the upcoming Inspired Yoga Event in October with Swami Sudhir Anand. Swami Sudhir is the founder of Shiva Yoga Peeth. He was born in Orissa, a Southern state of India. In his early childhood he met with a lot of great saints and learned from them about yoga. His aim is spread yoga and spirituality, health and harmony, love, peace and stress free living all over the world. For more information and prices click here “Inspired Yoga Event”

Talking about Community News, it’s a pleasure to announce our NEW TAO Ixchel Elixir Bar is now open at the TAO Wellness Center!!! We have amazing discounts for homeowners and renters! TAO Ixchel Elixir Bar is open for breakfast from 7.30am-10.30 and for lunch from 12.30pm-3pm! Let´s enjoy it!!!

As you may know that during the month of September we experienced an overflow of guests from Bahia Principe. In total Bahia Principe used around 25 units, all of which were booked through the TAO Rental Program. This was great news for the people that invested in TAO for rental purposes!

I would also like to mention that we do have a few units that we are currently using for the Discovery Weekends and these units are not part of the TAO Rental Program or any other rental program.

In Mexico, September is "el mes de la patria" (month of the homeland), and sometimes it seems as though the whole country is painted in the colors of the Mexican flag. Colorful and patriotic festivities celebrating the events that led up to Mexico's Independence from Spain are held throughout the country, culminating on the 15th and 16th.

From the beginning of September, Mexico's streets and buildings are festooned with an explosion of green, white and red. Mexican patriotic spirit is embodied in a multitude of popular traditions.

Mexican Independence Day, which is also referred to in Mexico by the date of the event el Dieciseis de Septiembre (the 16th of September), is one of Las Fiestas Patrias (the patriotic festivals), and is celebrated on the night of September 15 and all day on September 16. This is one of the most important fiestas of the year in Mexico, and the whole month of September is referred to as el mes de la patria (month of the homeland).

Happy September and VIVA MEXICO!

The Shadow and the Serpent

Fall Equinox at El Castillo Pyramid, Chichen Itza, Sept 22

On September 22, thousands will visit this ancient Mayan ruin site to witness a mysterious play of light on stone, as the sun makes a shadow in the shape of a serpent on the side of the stairs of the “El Castillo” pyramid, also known as Kukulcan, in Chichen Itza.

The serpent shadow, which used to be the sign for the Mayas to start planting corn, begins to appear around 4 p.m. during the equinox on the north side of the pyramid and continues for an hour. El Castillo, which stands 105 feet high with staircases climbing its four faces, was built with such mathematical precision and aligned to catch the rays of the setting sun during the equinoxes.

A Cenote was discovered underneath the Pyramid of Chichen Itza

With the discovery of a cenote right below the Pyramid of Kukulcan at Chichen Itza, researchers now wonder about its dimensions.

The investigator Rene Chavez, from the Institute of Geophysics of the UNAM, said that the way to reach that finding was long and necessary in order to retake diverse knowledge as well as practices previously performed at this archaeological site.
